The Haunted Gingerbread House

It's a Haunted Gingerbread house. Actually it is the Poltergeist Palace! (That is what Tyson calls it.) Grandma T bought us this kit when she was here in the summer to make during the Halloween season.
Obviously no one was paying attention to me as I was snapping pictures. Taryn looks like she ate too much candy and Tyson is pulling a funny face. I cheated on this particular house and instead of putting it together with the traditional icing I used the hot glue gun. It worked so much better. In the past, the icing and I would have issues making our houses a little lopsided, but with the handy dandy glue gun, WHOA, it stood up perfectly.
And instead of decorating the house after it is put together, where the icing runs all over the place, we decorated the back, front and sides laying down so that the icing would stay in place. I wish I would have had this epiphany years ago. This project still took up the afternoon but with out all the problems of before.

I love the back of this. It looks better than the front. Oh well.....that is usually my fate. At least the kids had a wonderful time making it and eating candy. Now we have another Halloween decoration for our little home.
