Things I Love About My Kids

Since most of my nights are spent up feeding Taryn, I have a lot of time on my hands to think, and I do a lot of thinking. Last night, in particular, I was just thinking of all the little things my kids do that make me smile, and I realized that I have never written them down. And since I use this as my personal journal of our lives, I figured it was fitting to collect them all here.
1. I love the way my babies smile and giggle in their sleep after feedings
2. I love the way Tyson's smile lights up the room.
3. I love it when Tyson says "Of Course" when asked if he could help with something
4. I love to hold Taryn's hand when she nurses.
5. I love to see Tyson kiss his little sister goodnight before he goes to bed.
6. I love how both my kids love to snuggle, there is nothing better!!!
7. I love it when my babies root around for food, (they remind me of little birds waiting to be fed)
8. I love Taryn's chubby legs, and I loved Tyson's chubby cheeks
9. I just love my kiddos
These are just a few of the things that I think about at night. I am sure this list will grow as time goes on.

Happy Thanksgiving!! Yes, I know it is a day late, but at least I posted! LOL Here is my little angel in here cute Levi jeans and flower head band. She actually kept it on for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Our Thanksgiving was great. We were invited over to the Johnson's house for Thanksgiving with the Terrys and the Sefciks. Vaughn was in charge of deep frying the turkey. It was so yummy. We bought the deep fryer at Bass Pro Shop and did a trial bird the week before. (Didn't want to ruin Thanksgiving by blowing up the bird HA HA HA)
We had more food than I ever though possible. We could have fed 50 people. I ate and ate and ate. I figured, hey, as long as I am trying to loose my pregnancy weight might as well add a few more pounds. I added those pounds with numerous helpings of turkey, stuffing, corn, potatoes, salad and several slices of pie. AH!!!!!!!!

After dinner the older kids had games and little crafts planned out, while the adults played a guessing game of famous and non famous people. It was the girls against the guys, and I am happy to say we creamed the guys. Funny, Funny game. Taryn slept through the whole thing and Tyson had a ball playing with the kids. He hasn't really played with anyone for about 2 weeks, on the account that he has been sick. We ate and laughed until the wee night hours. Such a great time! This is Taryn in her "Daddy shirt." It says "Daddy's angel."

My two kiddos posing for the camera.
She looks so entertained doesn't she?

The Pistons Game

Last Sunday night Vaughn, Tyson and a whole bunch of their friends went to a Pistons game. Vaughn was lucky enough to get some tickets for free and so he invited a few buddies and their sons to the game. Tyson said it was a blast!

He is so happy because he got a poster of the Pistons. (Funny what entertains them)

The Detroit Pistons. We live about 2 miles from "The Palace", the basketball arena, and we have been saying for a long time now that we wanted to take Tyson to a game. He finally got to go and what a great time he had. Taryn and I stayed home, she came down with a cold and I didn't want to expose her to anything else. So we watched the game on TV.

The Delivery

I meant to blog about this 4 weeks ago, but I am still working out the kinks of taking care of two kiddos instead of just one. Haven't quite got it down yet.

October 23rd.
I spent this last day before Taryn's arrival trying to clean my house before my mom came that evening. I got almost everything finished, but I spent a good part of the day playing with Tyson, just the two of us. I knew after this day, his world would be turned upside down and I wanted to have one more day just he and I. My mom's flight got into Metro at 9:00p.m. Vaughn and Tyson went down to get her. I couldn't handle the long 2 hour ride. I was so happy to have her here to help out and be a support to us. I didn't hardly sleep. I was too nervous, anxious and excited to sleep much. In fact, I was up before the alarm went off at 5 a.m.

October 24th.
Vaughn and I left the apartment around 5 :30. Mom and Tyson stayed behind and Vaughn would come and get them later on in the day to see the baby. We arrived at the hospital in Novi around 6:30a.m. and went in to get everything started. The hospital was just recently build and so everything was new and clean and nice. My room was big and the nursing staff were so kind. I was hooked up to the monitor, after putting on those lovely hospital gowns, and an IV was placed into my hand. (I hate needles, just so you know) Around 9a.m. the doctor came in with the anaesthesiologist and explained what was going to happen. I was scared to death. I don't really know why, but I just shook. They took Vaughn to get dressed for the OR and wheeled me down the hall to the OR. I was in the OR for 5 minutes with just the nurse and surgical tech while they set everything up. I got to see all the instruments they were going to use on me. That wasn't a good thing. I saw way to many sharp objects....my heart rate shot up and the nurse asked if I was ok? HA HA HA. (No I was not ok, I can see all the things that are sharp and pointy that are going to cut me open...)
A moment later the anaesthesiologist came in and talked to me about the epidural. I started to shake again. Luckily for me it went smoothly and I barely felt the needle go in my back. When my legs started to feel numb it was weird. I tried to will my legs and feet to move with no avail. Then they put up the blue sheet so I couldn't see anything, in came Vaughn and the doctors and the C-section began. I never felt a thing, but I kept asking Vaughn how it was going. They pulled Taryn out and she was huge. I was expecting a 6 pound baby and the nurse said, "8 pounds 8 ounces." WHOA!! No wonder I was so miserable the last month of pregnancy. As they started sewing me up I got really light headed and the room was spinning fast. I nearly blacked out and then they gave me something to stop the spinning and I fell asleep.
We still hadn't named her yet and we spent a better part of the day working on names. Vaughn drove up to get my mom and Tyson to see the baby. I cannot remember much of that Friday, it is all a blur. However, I do remember a lot of pain, medication and sickness......and.....being awakened the next morning at 4 a.m. to walk around. OUCH!!!! I do remember that hurt. Needless to say, the next 2 days were spent in the hospital, trying to walk again, taking lots of pain meds and wanting to get out of that room.
Saturday, the birth certificate lady came in bright and early to fill out the birth certificate. We still didn't have a definite name. So, I called Vaughn while he was in route to come and see me at the hospital and said, "What are we naming this child?" He came up with the name Taryn. I immediately loved it. So Taryn Jackson it was and she looks like a Taryn.
My mom stayed for 2 weeks to help with the recovery, and thank goodness she did. Recovering from a C-section is not easy, it is quite painful. It was so nice to have mom to help out with the house work and to keep Tyson entertained, and to take Taryn while I took a shower. Thanks mom!!! I owe you much much much!!!!
